JUNIORS
Our goal is to encourage kids to play rugby, have fun, learn great ball skills and make lifelong friends. Juniors range from ages under 6 to 18.
Why Rugby is a Great Game for Life?
Rugby Union is a game that develops leadership, team spirit, courage, sportsmanship and friendship. These values and traditions develop from the first time a young player shakes hand with their opposite team player at the end of the match.
The key values of the game of rugby consist of Australian pride, teamwork and camaraderie, love of the game, tradition and heritage.
The ethos of rugby has shaped a code of behaviour that has transcended generations since 1823. …the sport that engages the family and community and strengthens the ties that bind Australia together.

Following training, bring the whole family up to the clubhouse to enjoy a healthy, home-cooked meal with other Cott families in front of our open fireplace. This is always a favourite night of the week for our Cott Pirate players and families!
Every Cott Junior team takes turns each week to provide and serve healthy, home cooked, wholesome food to our Cott Pirates and their families. We keep it simple! Some of the examples of meals we serve are pasta, salad and garlic bread; sausages, mash potato, peas and gravy; lasagne and salad etc.
We ask for a payment of $25 per player and $25 per sibling who is also welcome to join in for dinner, at the beginning of the season to cover the cost of meals.

-
Please advise your Team’s Coach or Manager as early as possible if your child is unable to play any games or attend training. It is important that Coaches have has as much notice as possible to find a replacement player if required.

Both training and games are played in all weather conditions unless there is lightning present. Your Team Manager will advise you if any cancellations are necessary.
-
The successful, efficient running of our club requires the participation of our parents. Each team has a dedicated Coach and Team Manager. The role of the Team Manager is primarily a communication role – ensuring all team members are informed of fixtures and any relevant changes, communicate and coordinate requirements for designated training dinners, prepare and communicate a game day oranges and lolly roster, complete and submit simple game sheet following each game – placed in box situated in each clubhouse.
-
We understand parents are busy and we aim to keep your involvement easy and manageable.
Orange and lolly roster – A roster will be prepared for each family to contribute cut up oranges for half time and a bag of lollies for their team for the end of the game.
Training dinners – Each team will provide dinner for the junior players and their families after each Thursday night training session – including clean up. Each team will provide dinner approximately 2-3 times throughout the season.
-
Cottesloe Rugby Club adheres to the club constitution and bylaws, including the code of conduct and supporting member policies. For copies of the documents click here.
Cottesloe Rugby Club also adheres to the Australian Rugby Union’s ‘Code of Conduct’ and ‘Expectation of Behaviour Guidelines’ – for players, parents and coaches. These guidelines ensure that all players and those involved receive optimum enjoyment of and benefit from the game of Rugby.
-
At the end of the season, a Rugby Wrap Up will be held at our clubhouse. Presentations will be made to players and volunteers. Parents can enjoy a drink from our bar and following the presentations, a sausage sizzle is served for the whole family to enjoy while the kids run around and parents enjoy the stunning view. And if we’re lucky, Milton and George will do their famous lolly drop! Date and details will be communicated later in the season.
